Just like the spirit of the seventies, the twin fin never really died – it lives on in the muscle memory of old surfers and shapers, and in the upgraded designs of guys like Johnny, who learned from the masters. Johnny’s version has plenty of the cruisy retro feel of a classic twin, but with all the extra sensitivity and response you expect from a modern master of performance shapes.Inspired by the Californian movement from the 1960s and ’70s, and the transition from longboards to shortboards. It gave rise to this small model, with 2 fins, that led to more aggressive and modern maneuvers.WAVE TYPE / SIZEClassic from the 60s and 70s designed for small wavesSKILL LEVELVintage Twin fin. From ‘Da Freak Kid’ to three-time world champion, Cabianca has loved watching Gabriel’s ascent, from high-flying teen prodigy to the all-round surfing virtuoso he is today. Just like his surfing, Gabriel’s go-to pro model surfboard has evolved constantly over the past years, and after years of constant development, Cabianca thinks it’s the most refined, balanced and straight-up magic board in the lineup. Tuned to excel in quality waves, the DFK 2.0 is equally at home smashing the lip or flying far above it, and tube hunters will love its speed, balance and drive down the line.WAVE TYPE / SIZEThe DFK 2.0 works in all kinds of conditions and for most ability of surfers. If the wave has a pocket, steep face and power, the board almost rides itself! If the waves have less power, the board needs an advanced surfer to make use of its best characteristics. It is made for technical surfing from 1 to 10 feet waves – just choose the right measurements based on the waves you surf the most. SKILL LEVELIt’s Cabiancas most technical board.FIN SET UPThrusterTAIL OPTIONSSquash, Swallow, Round, Round PinROCKERThe board has a lot of rocker, mostly concentrated in the centre of the surfer’s base when standing.CONCAVEThe single concave all along the board, captures the water capture generating greater water flow pressure towards the fins. This means the more pressure the surfer applies to the board, the greater the speed.RAIL TYPEMedium to low rails with really sharp edges from before the fins to the tail. These edges allow for a better grip on the wave face, giving more drive in extreme conditions.
When it comes to milking every drop of speed and fun from weak summer swells, you really can’t beat a twin fin’s ability to generate speed with minimal drag. Which is why Cabianca decided it was time to give the Uber Twin model a “twin” of its own… introducing the Evil Twin. Like its Uber brother, the Evil Twin comes with the option of using a central stabiliser fin, and has enough performance DNA to rip in decent waves. But with its flatter rocker and extra width at the nose and tail, this board really excels in the kind of summer slop that makes other shortboards chop and hop back to the beach in disgust.Another small wave good option. The combination of pronounced concaves and double concave generates extra speed and helps connect sections even in the most average conditions.WAVE TYPE / SIZEIdeal model for small and medium wave conditions. Perfect for beginners and surf schools, the Omelette is also ideal for intermediates looking for a cruisy board that works in a wide variety of conditions. What makes the Omelette better than your average Egg is its tip-to-tail vee bottom contour: this allows the fuller, high volume shape to remain responsive from rail to rail, while slicing through chop on windblown faces.WAVE TYPE / SIZEClassic funboard, or mid-length, for all type of wavesSKILL LEVELPerfect for beginners, but with enough performance capacity to handle a good surfing levelFIN SET UPThree finsTAIL OPTIONSSquashROCKERSimple bottom curve, all in “V”CONCAVEDouble “V” water outletRAIL TYPEFuller edges, with a flatter, slightly domed deck
Mid length models are very much back in vogue right now, with good reason. Inspired by the hull-bottomed models of the pre-Thruster era, these boards are the perfect choice for smooth, flowing turns and effortless glide on long, cruisy waves, especially point breaks. For the Sherpa, Johnny has taken the classic vee bottom and combined it with a double concave through the tail. The vee provides smooth rail to rail surfing down the line, while the double concave creates extra lift and speed generation when you need it. The rails are thin and low: experienced surfers will love their precision and response. Choose the big twin fin setup for extra speed or the single fin for ultimate flow.

Cabianca took the classic, sophisticated shape of the Trimmer and added a little performance edge to it. A pinch more rocker, less area in the nose, and a slimmer tail to increase both velocity and maneuverability. If you like combining big moves with a smooth flow, the Slimmer is the longboard for you.

Being the world’s best contest surfer isn’t all about destroying the world’s best waves: it’s often more about winning decisive heats in marginal conditions. And that’s where The Medina comes in – a high performance shape that’s designed to make the most of low-performance waves.
Low rocker from nose to tail makes The Medina a fast paddler, helping you to get more waves, and make more sections. Meanwhile the concave to V bottom, and a flatter dome deck makes this board stable, yet very lively and responsive. Get this board 2 inches shorter than your usual shortboard. Whatever your level, the Medina will turn your bad days into fun days… and good days into classic days.WAVE TYPE / SIZESmall to medium and waves with little powerSKILL LEVELThe Medina is a forgiving board. In the bigger dimensions it can work for a beginner, and in bad conditions works well for more contest or high-performance surfers.FIN SET UPThrusterTAIL OPTIONSSquash, Swallow, RoundROCKERLow rocker nose to tail.CONCAVETransitions from single concave at the front foot to Vee in the tail. The idea is to have greater contact with the water, at low speed. Therefore, even if the wave does not push, the board remains above the water. Back in the 1970’s, Mark Richards revolutionized small wave surfboards with his twin-fin design, while in the past few years Uber have revolutionized transportation with their taxi app. Not that Cabianca is saying the new Uber Twin shape is revolutionary – it’s just an insanely fun summer board that combines all the speed and looseness of a classic twin with the maneuverability of a modern performance shortboard. Run it with a twin fin setup for ultimate retro fun, or add the rear stabilizer fin for extra drive and control. If you’re looking for a small wave board that flies down the line and turns on a dime, get the Uber Twin. Ideal for having fun, the twin fin offers good performance and stability. Always choose two inches (or less) than your normal board’s length. With good volume and width, the combination guarantees fun.WAVE TYPE / SIZEIdeal model for small and medium wave conditions. For this design Johnny took the basic shape of The Medina and introduced elements that make stubby summer boards such wave catching machines – extra width, a fuller foil, a rocker and plenty of foam under the chest. Finally, he added a triple wing, making this board perfect for high velocity snaps and n releases.A good nose and tail area, with the wings on the back of the keels, make this model an excellent option for small wave days. Taking everything we’ve learned about the characteristics of static waves, The Zero Salt has been designed from the ground up for high performance surfing in rivers and wave pools. Extremely agile, responsive and built with a unique bottom shape, rocker and fin setup, this board makes zero compromises when it comes to fresh water ripping.
Due to the high wear and tear when surfing rivers, Cabianca recommends ordering the board with reinforced fin plugs, carbon rails, and a solid tail patch.WAVE TYPE / SIZEStatic Waves.
